Ranching, Mining, and the Human Impact of Natural Resources Development reports and observes people whose lives have been importantly affected by industrialization of rural communities in the American West. Such community change research is rarely done, but is invaluable for its real world groundings for a variety of social science theories. Although conditions like these still exist, the industrialization of agriculture radically transformed how the vast majority of food is produced in the U.S. and many other parts of the world. Over the brief span of the 20 th century, agriculture underwent greater change than it had since it was first adopted s years ago.
